Welcome to The Garden of Light. This is a themed community in the tradition of pyre_flies. We're a low-pressure, themed fanwork community. We welcome both fanart and fanfiction. To get started, you'll need to claim a character, pairing, or relationship and get to work on the themes.

You can choose from three types of claim:
  • Character - A single character you can write about. You can choose to pair the character with many others, or keep him/her out of such entanglements. For example, you might choose to write about Queen Amila, or Mistress Ladrinne.

  • Pairing - A romantic relationship between two characters. If you want to claim a threesome, you can do that as well, but keep in mind that each fanwork will need to contain all three characters as part of the same relationship. For example, you might claim Calintz and Reith, or you might pick Haren and Chris. It's completely up to you.

  • General Relationship - Any other type of relationship between two or more characters. So, for example, you might choose the Four Warriors and write about their relationship with each other, or you could choose Calintz and Agreian.

You may have up to three claims at the same time, but no more than three people can claim the same thing. So if three people have claimed Calintz and Agreian as a romantic relationship, you will need to wait until one of them finishes that claim or gives up to begin it yourself. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis, but there are lots of great characters in this game, so don't limit yourself!

If you have not posted anything on your claim for three months, I will drop your claim. You can reclaim it, but if someone else has taken it in the meantime, you'll have to wait.

Working On Your Claim
You can include between one and five of the themes in your piece. (So that means you can do a minimum of 20 fanworks to complete your claim, or a maximum of 100). You may not re-use themes.

You don't necessarily have to use the theme as a motif for an entire piece; draw inspiration from them.

When you are working on a single-character claim, you should focus on that character or that character's relationships (using the character's point of view in a fic is fine.)

When working on a general relationship, you can use platonic or romantic relationships. Please keep in mind that claiming, for example, Calintz and Agreian as a general relationship because all three romantic relationship spots are taken, and then writing every fic as a romantic relationship, is somewhat defeating the purpose.

All headers, summaries, and titles must be work-safe.

You must include the following header for each fanwork you do:

Title: The title of your piece.
Theme + Number: The theme(s) you used and the number(s) of those theme(s)
Claim: Your claim. This might read something like "Calintz and Azel (general relationship)"
Rating: You can either use FictionRatings.com ratings (K, K+, T, M, MA) or the G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17 rating set, but be consistent please.
Warnings: You must warn for sexual content, kinks, anything non-consensual, or spoilers. Other warnings may be used as you see fit.
Summary: Tell us what your story is about!

All fanworks and fanfiction must be under an LJ-cut, while the headers must be outside it. If you don't know how to do one:
<lj-cut text="Whatever you want your LJ-cut to say">Put your story or artwork here!</lj-cut>

You may also link to another page instead of using an LJ-cut, but the link MUST be permanent (so don't link to the main page of your own journal, for example).

Please only post one fic or piece of art per post.

Be polite.

Be constructive.

Do not flame.

Well, enjoy!
